It's difficult for Australia to achieve unprecedented feats.

The top summits have been successfully scaled.

This is the squad that has claimed seven Cricket World Cups, plus six more T20 titles, and once went nearly four years unbeaten in 50-over cricket.

The remaining milestones, targeted by the achievement hunters, are what's still available for a side that has achieved everything.

That it took until Sunday's success by three wickets over India for them to achieve their initial ODI chase above 300, reclaiming their record for the biggest in the female 50-over format, is, in truth, a tribute to the bowling attack that have sported the yellow jersey over the last half-century.

It's challenging for their batters to maintain a record if never given the opportunity.

Ultimately, the outcome of Australia allowing 330 runs was skipper Alyssa Healy getting a platform to create her newest gem.

Initially recognized as the 19-year-old niece of celebrated previous Aussie wicketkeeper Ian, she made her debut in 2010 after Australia failed to win either of the 20 or 50-over World Cups conducted earlier and has seen it all through 15 championship-filled years since.

A T20 World Cup win came three months after her debut and seven global championships have resulted from 10 attempts across formats.

The tough gloveman was also there in Derby in 2017 when a last-four loss by India briefly halted the winning streak.

That loss "motivated us to reevaluate our levels," Healy stated recently.

At the next 50-over World Cup in New Zealand, Healy made 170 against England in the title decider and was declared player of the series. She guaranteed her country would not fail again.

Whether this latest epic knock topped that previous effort is debatable.

Certain people claim the argument supporting final game tension. Others can counter with the challenge that comes when facing a record target and a raucous India-supporting crowd of 20,000.

What's clear is this ton was far harder to predict.

The Christchurch carnage in 2022 occurred when she topped the run-scoring charts, but this knock was preceded by six games in India from the beginning of the previous month in which she had been unable to reach 30.

"If you've observed me in training, it has been a disappointing period because it appeared I've had no rhythm at all," said Healy.

"However when you enter the playing area, your competitive instincts activate and you completely engage with the match."

Healy's fighting spirit has always been her key asset - and an invaluable trait in taking over from legendary former captain Meg Lanning.

She was tormented by India's rising star Kranti Gaud in the previous month's ODI series, out to the 22-year-old seamer in all three matches, but on this occasion it simply offered Healy's motivation.

A single came off the bowler's initial ball and after that the right-hander was underway.

"The possibility to take the field and lock in a contest with her and merely enjoy the moment in that regard, kind of motivated me," stated Healy.

She got to fifty in 35 balls - her swiftest at the global tournament - and her ton in 84 balls as she punished short deliveries, scoring 21 fours and three maximums.

When she was removed the team needed 66 additional runs at one run per ball - an unconquered height now needing a comfortable finish.

"Pursuing 330 is uncharted waters so I'm happy we have the assurance to do that now," added Healy.

"Ideally we won't need to do it again but, if necessary, we believe we can succeed."

That comment will be the ultimate thing rival teams at this championship need to hear.

During the last week a belief they will triumph from any situation has become more firm - this success succeeding win against Pakistan by 107-run victory despite sitting at 76-7 at one stage.

Following this Australia face Bangladesh before a match against old rivals England in Indore in ten days, by which point a semi-final berth may probably be guaranteed.

It was at that stage they were eliminated from last year's T20 World Cup in a shock defeat by South Africa - a match Healy missed because of damaged tissue in her foot as she captained her nation for the first time at a major tournament.

So strong is her resolve, she later said she regretted not playing through the pain.

But while she afterwards confessed those fitness problems have pushed back plans to retire, this tournament is anticipated as her concluding event as leader in ODI cricket and she is hasn't yet secured an international tournament as leader.

Success in India would lead her to the peak of her last major obstacle.
