Critical Role Season Four Reveals the Soldiers Party

Since the launch of Campaign 4, recently appointed game master the talented storyteller has maintained audience suspense with deep backstory, a wide array of personalities, and a thrilling plot showcasing angels, evil spirits, and sinister influences increasing in power within Dol-Makjar.

Note: Revealing details for Episode 3 of the new season are included.

The Warrior Group Unveiled

The third episode concluded with a major cliffhanger and revealed the first table of characters who will branch out from the central cast to begin their own adventure, distinct from the additional parties.

This warrior group features Teor (portrayed by Travis), Thimble (the talented performer), Tyranny (Whitney), Wicander Halovar (Sam Riegel), and Kattigan (the actor).

The Reason for Division

With an extensive roster, it was obvious from the beginning that keeping everyone at one table would be unfeasible.

Hence, the initial installments of Campaign 4 serve as an Introduction, intertwining the personal journeys before dividing into three smaller tables: Warriors, Schemers, and Seekers.

Characteristics of the Soldiers Table

According to Brennan Lee Mulligan, the Soldiers table is for adventurers who are drawn to a classically intense battle-oriented narrative style where peaceful solutions are few and far between.

Upon first impression, characters like the hesitant healer the cleric might look out of place, but the actions of the latest installment make it clear why these specific adventurers are best suited for the combat party.

Motivations for Departure

For one thing, the team has a clear idea where to proceed after a violent initial meeting with the enemy group.

Casimir of the deceased character—whose demise started the narrative’s action—used the foes for his selfish purposes, breaking into the hidden lair, striking the rogue, and taking all the powerful objects to sell off.

Casimir then cleared his debts and ran away to a fortified location in Gormalay, Timmony, north of the city, with Cyd Pridesire close behind.

Personal Motivations

Moreover, each member has a personal reason to depart the urban setting:

  • The agile hero, as the companion and best friend, wants vengeance.
  • The knowledgeable figure knows Timmony and advises that it is a nasty location.
  • The warrior and The cleric, having disobeyed his family’s wishes to execute the fighter and instead rescued him, have no other options.
  • But, their position as important members in House Halovar could assist the team access areas they typically wouldn’t be able to.
  • Furthermore, Teor swore a eternal obligation to The cleric for his rescue and will now go with him wherever.

Pursued by Authorities

Lastly, all of them are sought by the authorities that control the setting for a multiple motives, making staying in the city dangerous:

  • Thimble and The character are recognized lawbreakers.
  • Tyranny and The healer turned against the influential house and the horde of evil beings they are allied with.
  • The fighter is wanted dead by House Halovar.

This means them few options but to journey toward the remote area in quest for Casimir.
